High volume flow at Cline Falls in Redmond, Oregon, close to Bend. At 20 feet, the falls are the highest on the Deschutes river. The segmented cascade carved numerous channels in the basalt rocks and run through a rimrock canyon lined by junipers and ponderosa pines typical of the high desert. The surroundings offer spectacular vistas all around Bend. Temperatures dip sharply in the winter. It was about 12 degrees when I took this shot. The flow regulated by irrigation was big at the time.
